URGENT CARE

JHC Companies has partnered with AFC Urgent Care to deliver multiple medical clinic projects across the Portland metro area. These facilities include tenant improvements, adaptive reuse of existing buildings, and ground-up construction, all designed to support efficient, high-quality patient care environments.

JHC Companies has partnered with AFC Urgent Care since 2011, delivering multiple clinics across Oregon and Washington. This ongoing relationship reflects our ability to provide consistent quality, efficient delivery, and repeatable solutions across multiple locations.

Several AFC Urgent Care projects involved converting existing buildings—including former retail and banking spaces—into fully functioning medical facilities. These projects required careful coordination of structural upgrades, building systems, and code compliance to meet healthcare standards.

PROJECT CHALLENGES

These projects required transforming existing buildings into fully operational medical facilities, often uncovering unforeseen structural and building system issues. In one case, deferred maintenance required replacement of roof structures, decking, and framing.

Compressed schedules also required early procurement of casework, doors, and built-in elements prior to framing completion, demanding precise coordination and planning. Mechanical system delays were mitigated through creative solutions, including the installation of multiple air handling units to maintain performance requirements.
