Construction Marketing Manager Position

Joseph Hughes Construction (JHC) has a full-time opening for an experienced Marketing professional to be the visionary that leads the continued growth of our marketing efforts.  The ideal candidate for this role will bring a burst of energy and breath of fresh air to our team along with a ‘can-do’ attitude, and hands-on approach that promotes our company within the Portland construction market.

About the Marketing Manager Position:

The Marketing Manager will oversee digital and physical marketing activities to target JHC’s ideal clients and construction project types within the Portland metro area.  This includes strategic deployment of social media, e-Newsletters, digital postcards, event marketing, swag, branding, advertising and marketing campaigns that presents JHC in a ‘best-in-class’ light to its target audience.

What You'll Do:

In this role, your dynamic energy and enthusiasm will be a key trait in helping build the brand and solidify our place in the market for the future. You'll have a hand in many different activities including:

  • Working closely with the Executive Team, develop overall marketing campaign that identifies key market opportunities; outline methods utilizing best practices to reach the intended audience.  Track success rate.

  • Manage digital presence including social media accounts, electronic newsletters and company website.  Stay current on key social media to ensure JHC is being presented on platforms that reaches JHC’s target audience.

  • Create, update and maintain physical marketing materials including physical newsletters, promotional material and company swag.

  • Identify key events to attend and / or sponsor; attend events to represent JHC and solicit JHC employees to attend event(s) as needed.

  • Ability to create a story (written or verbal) about the JHC brand, company capabilities or project that highlights the work we do.

  • Produce, organize, and assemble original marketing materials, prequalification’s, bid documents and proposals, including compliance matrix development, proof-reading, strategic and technical presentations, editing, and graphic production.

  • Strong alignment of marketing focus to overall business strategy; Manager will play a critical leadership role in developing a marketing campaign to target various types of work and customers.

  • Create original graphics for inclusion in marketing needs. 

  • Creation and maintenance of marketing files and databases including project reference sheets, staff resumes, and project photography.

  • Perform industry specific market research and analysis identifying new ways to increase the company’s visibility and name recognition in the industry and develop strategic technical marking plans to achieve.

  • Visit job sites to document / take progress photos, team photos.  Photo editing a plus.

  • Manage and maintain Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software (Act) including developing system reports and studies. Maintain, update, CRM.

  • Ability to self-start and display effective time management skills through workload management.

  • Be a team player that involves fellow JHC colleagues in marketing efforts, event attendance and building a strong company culture for success!

  • Excellent communication skills including listening, speaking and writing.


What We’re Looking For:

A successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated how their work ethic and accomplishments in similar prior roles align with the outlined duties and responsibilities for this position at JHC.

  • Earned a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in business administration, marketing, communications or related field

  • Have at least six years of related experience in marketing in an A / E / C industry role.  Additional industry career experience allowed in lieu of degree.   

  • Creativity and ability to help the company stand out in a competitive environment

  • A balance of digital and print marketing experience

  • An infectious personality
