1882 GRILL

JHC Companies completed the KAOS Building in McMinnville, Oregon, delivering a creative mixed-use renovation that now houses the 1882 Grille along with flexible commercial space. This adaptive reuse project transformed an existing structure into a modern, design-forward environment supporting both hospitality and creative tenants.

The inclusion of 1882 Grille introduces a hospitality element to the project, requiring coordination of restaurant-specific infrastructure such as kitchen systems, ventilation, and customer-facing spaces. Integrating these elements within a broader commercial building added complexity while enhancing the building’s role within the local community.

PROJECT CHALLENGES

This project required the integration of multiple uses within a single building, including restaurant and commercial workspace functions. Coordinating restaurant infrastructure—such as kitchen systems, ventilation, and utilities—within an existing structure required careful planning and execution.

Additionally, the adaptive reuse scope required aligning new construction with existing building conditions while delivering a cohesive and modern final product.
