JHC Companies partnered with Pelican Brewing to transform the former LeRoy’s Blue Whale restaurant in Yachats, Oregon into the brewery’s newest coastal location. The approximately 3,000 SF renovation brought new life to a longtime local landmark while adapting the existing building to support Pelican Brewing’s brand, operations, and guest experience.

Work touched nearly every part of the building, including interior renovations, exterior improvements, updated building systems, new windows, expanded outdoor seating, and code upgrades. The project also incorporated custom hospitality features including new banquette and booth seating, a steel-plated bar with concrete countertop, specialty finishes, and cedar-shake siding.

An important part of the renovation was preserving the building’s well-known blue whale mural — a familiar piece of the former restaurant and its history in the Yachats community. The finished space balances Pelican Brewing’s coastal identity with the character of a building that has been part of the community for decades.
