The Room & Board showroom project involved the seismic upgrade and full renovation of the historic Fisk Tire Building in Portland’s Pearl District.

JHC Companies performed structural improvements to bring the nearly century-old building up to modern seismic standards while transforming the interior into a contemporary retail environment. PROJECT CHALLENGES

Renovating the historic Fisk Tire Building required a complex seismic retrofit while preserving the structure’s original industrial character.

JHC Companies strengthened the entire building with new structural systems, including shear walls and foundation improvements, while simultaneously completing a full interior buildout for the Room & Board showroom.

Coordinating structural upgrades, historic preservation, and modern retail construction within a nearly century-old building required careful planning and collaboration across the design and construction teams.
